Aishath Firasha’s dessert kitchen, known for kanamadhu — sea almond — cakes and a long list of other kanamadhu sweets. Lonumedhu places her chocolate cakes among Greater Malé pre-orders. The public contact is Instagram @bakesbyfira.
People in Greater Malé who want a kanamadhu cake, or a dessert that uses that nut in a less usual way: blondies, a tart, a crepe roll. Also useful if you need a chocolate celebration cake — Lindt, Toblerone or Ferrero — and you can order ahead.
She has been baking under this name since 2016. In February 2026 Lonumedhu marked ten years, and quoted her on still serving customers from the first year.
Lonumedhu’s 1 February 2026 anniversary piece lists what grew out of the original kanamadhu cake:
The same 2026 piece says she was introducing three further kanamadhu products that month. It does not name them.
A December 2017 interview also mentions cookies, carrot cake, red velvet, chocolate cake and almond cake. Treat that as what she was making then, not a current menu.
Prices: not published. Ask on Instagram.
No public phone, street, delivery map or lead time. In 2017 she told Lonumedhu the cake was also served at Thyme, Akoya, Café Lavaala and Barcelos. That stockist list is nine years old — check with her before you go looking for a slice.
Lonumedhu has written about her four times we could find: the 2017 kanamadhu interview, a 2024 gluten-free roundup, the February 2026 anniversary, and the August 2026 chocolate-cake list. The through-line is the kanamadhu flavour, and customers who stayed.
“The most special of all are my customers; I still have a lot of the same customers from back when I started in 2016. I think it’s a testament to the consistent quality and taste that I have tried to maintain in all my products throughout the years.”
— Aishath Firasha, quoted in Lonumedhu, 1 February 2026“I want to cover a wide range of desserts with my signature ingredient, kanamadhu, and see how far I can go with that.”
— Aishath Firasha, quoted in Lonumedhu, 1 February 2026In 2017 she told Lonumedhu she started baking after becoming a stay-at-home parent, working from recipes and family feedback, and that she sorts kanamadhu by hand because the quality of the nut matters to the cake. She gets the nuts from the local market and from islands.
